Veteran Jimmy Cliff has added a new award to his already extensive trophy cabinet: he was given the Grammy Award for best reggae album at the 55th ceremony on Sunday evening in Los Angeles.

The jury preferred Jimmy Cliff's latest album, "Rebirth", to Sean Paul ("Tomahawk Technique"), Sly & Robbie ("New Legend" with The Jam Masters), Toots & The Maytals ("Reggae Got Soul : Unplugged on Strawberry Hill") and The Original Wailers ("Miracle").
It is Jimmy Cliff's second Grammy Award, after being honoured for his album "Cliff Hanger" in 1986.
The night also paid tribute to Ravi Shankar, who died last December, and to Bob Marley, with a medley of his songs bringing together Rihanna, Sting, Bruno Mars, Ziggy Marley and Damian Marley:

In the other categories, the night crowned The Black Keys, Gotye, Skrillex and Jay-Z and Kanye West (3 statuettes each).
