Khalifa's new album, "(G)Riot.13" (previously titled "(G)Riot.12"), comes out on 19 April 2013.
Like the first, it was recorded with the help of the Riddim Twins Sly & Robbie, with members of the Taxi Gang, between Kingston and Caen.
It was also through Sly & Robbie that Khalifa crossed paths with the renowned trombonist Nambo Robinson, with whom he has built a relationship "beyond music and work".
Nambo Robinson launched a music workshop in Kingston, the Idren Workshop, which aims to help pupils and students in difficulty. "The goal is to bring them together around music, raise funds and help them with their studies, says Khalifa. I went back to Jamaica to run this workshop with Positive Radical Sound, in a bass, drums and keyboard line-up". At the end of the ten days of workshop, a concert was held at the Red Bone Cafe, with Nambo Robinson.
"My dearest wish, Khalifa told us in an interview (to be published online soon), is to bring him over to France so that we can play together."
It's done: Nambo Robinson will be Khalifa's guest for his shows in Hérouville Saint-Clair (BBC) on Friday 19 April, and on Wednesday 24 April in Paris (Le Petit Bain), with Dar-K and Fakear.
