Judge James Moody on Wednesday dismissed the charge of illegal firearm possession in Buju Banton's trial. That charge could have cost him a further five years behind bars.

Currently serving a ten-year sentence, the deejay is still awaiting a possible third trial, following statements by the juror Terri Wright, who had admitted to carrying out research on the trial. She faces a fine and six months in prison.
His lawyer Chokwe Lumumba said he was confident. Even so, Buju Banton could wait an additional year even if the judge were to order a new trial.
