Famous for having welcomed some of Jamaica's most talented musicians within its walls, the Alpha Boys School will launch its online radio station on Tuesday 17 September.

A former institution founded in 1880 and run since 1890 by the order of the Religious Sisters of Mercy, the Alpha Boys School takes in children in difficulty and trains them in a range of trades.
Above all, it very early on had a music school: the Alpha Boys School's first band appeared in 1892. "It was a school for bad boys, recalls Rico Rodriguez. We learned several trades there, like becoming a gardener or a cabinetmaker. I learned brass there: trumpet, trombone…"
The station, run by the students, will draw on the huge catalogue of the most famous alumni: Don Drummond, Johnny Dizzy Moore, Tommy McCook and the Skatalites, but also Johnny Osbourne, Leroy Smart, Rico Rodriguez, Yellowman… A guarantee of quality!
