Titled "Eek-Ology", an anthology devoted to Eek-A-Mouse will be released on 5 November by VP Records, on its 17 North Parade label.
Like the previous anthologies, this compilation comprises two CDs and a DVD (an excerpt of Eek-A-Mouse's performance at Reggae Sunsplash in 1982).
After the Yellowman compilation, the Roots Radics and Junjo Lawes are once again in the spotlight. Essential to Yellowman's success, they were just as vital to Eek-A-Mouse's popularity in the early 1980s. The best illustration of the three combined is probably Wa Do Dem. Eek-A-Mouse would go on to string together hits with this dream team: Ganja Smuggling, For Hire and Removal, Operation Eradication…
The double CD thus traces his career through productions by Junjo Lawes, but also Joe Gibbs (Once A Virgin) and Linval Thompson. It includes several rare tracks, among them Creation, written at school, as well as My Father's Land and No Wicked Can't Reign, and above all versions of Wa-Do-Dem, Hitler, Assassinator and For Hire And Removal, recorded during a BBC Session with host John Peel. However, these will only be available on the CD version.
