Led by the eldest, Joseph, the Hoo-Kim brothers (Paul, Kenneth, Ernest) played a considerable role in the development of reggae during the 1970s. With their house band The Revolutionaries (featuring Sly & Robbie, among others), Channel One quickly became unmissable.

A mechanic by trade, Kenneth Hoo Kim moved into production in the late 1980s, when the studio, marked by the murder of Paul Hoo Kim in 1977, had become less productive. Among other things, he produced the "Show Down" series with Frankie Paul, Sugar Minott, Barrington Levy, Barry Brown, Little John, Wayne Smith and Yellowman.
