After Zen Bow, Reel Heavy Music reissues Norris Regal
on Tuesday, February 25th 2014 - 9 043 views
After the reissue of Zen Bow's Impression in 2012, the label Reel Heavy Music announces a new release, its second: Norris Regal's Struggle.
Back from his long quest in pursuit of Zen Bow, Seb Carayol has set off on a new treasure hunt. This time, it is the rare Struggle by Norris Regal that is the object of his obsession. Heard at a dance given by Jah Shaka, this killer-tune is the only track Norris Regal ever released, in 1983. Since then, the singer has disappeared completely from the radar.
As usual, Seb Carayol tells the story of this reissue, which begins with an investigation worthy of a private detective: whatever happened to Norris Regal? No one on the London scene seems to remember him. He tracks him down thanks to… the Anglo-Caribbean Dominoes League (!). Heading to the town of Rugby, in the United Kingdom, where, now aged 54, Norris Regal works as an electrician.
31 years later, Struggle is thus available again in record shops. Reissued from the master tape, this new Reel Heavy Music maxi comes with two previously unreleased tracks: the deejay version (Dis Ya, by Manicus & Steppa) and the dub version (Dub Struggle).
Seb Carayol has just posted the first part of his quest on the label's blog, www.reelheavy.wordpress.com (in English).
