It's not quite a first album, but it looks a lot like one. On 1 April, Chronixx will release "Dread & Terrible", a compilation of seven songs and three dub versions.
"What is good and pleasant in Zion is dreaded and terrible ("dread and terrible") in Babylon, says Chronixx, who was heavily involved in putting the project together and choosing the tracks. For me, this project is a reminder that the struggle and the spiritual battle for the liberation of my people is still going on.
I hope it will gather the willing youth of my generation, to rise ("rise", which can also mean uprising, editor's note) as our ancestors did, and press towards the liberation of my people, that is to say all the righteous citizens of this planet."
"Dread & Terrible" naturally includes his latest hit Here Comes Trouble. Wynta James (Ovastand) also produces the unreleased Capture Land. The dub versions of both tracks close the album, as does that of Alpha & Omega, on the Inna rub a dub riddim produced by John John (one of King Jammy's sons) in 2013.
His musical family, ZicFence Records, is of course represented, with Spirulina, just unveiled (see below), and Like a whistle, a track we've already heard on stage.
Two unreleased tracks complete the tracklist: Rastaman Wheel Out by Bost & Bim and Eternal Fire, by TNT, for the French label Special Delivery. Out from 1 April 2014 .
Chronixx will play in France, in Paris on Sunday 6 April (with Barrington Levy, Dre Island and Kelissa) and in Lyon (with Dre Island and Kelissa) on Wednesday 9 April.
Competition: 10 tickets to be won on Reggaefrance for Barrington Levy + Chronixx + Dre Island + Kelissa on 6 April in Paris. You have until 26 March to enter!
