The Taxi Gang is in mourning: the American guitarist Daryl Thompson died on 19 May 2014.
Born in 1955, he joined Sly & Robbie in the late 70s and never left, accompanying Peter Tosh at the Montreux festival in 1979 and Black Uhuru in the early 80s.
With his ever-present black felt hat and enormous leather coat, he could be seen on stage in France at the Taxi Gang Night in Paris last year (with Johnny Osbourne, Michael Rose, Khalifa, Bitty McLean), or at the Garance Reggae Festival: in 2013, the Taxi Gang backed Michael Rose and Don Carlos, and Junior Reid in 2012.
