As we prepare to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Bob Marley's birth on 6 February 2015, the Tuff Gong's concert in Dortmund during his last European tour is being reissued for the first time on DVD and CD+DVD in a restored version.
On 13 June 1980, three days after the release of the album "Uprising", in June 1980, Bob Marley played the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. The concert was filmed for the music series Rockpalast on German television channel WDR (started in 1974, the programme is still on air).
To say the show is well-oiled is an understatement. After the I Threes' preamble, the deep bass of Natural Mystic kicks off a concert in which Bob Marley alternates his greatest international hits with more recent titles from his repertoire (Zion Train, Work, Coming in from the Cold, Zimbabwe…). Already hurt in the foot, Bob Marley nonetheless delivers a fascinating performance, to be discovered in a restored version and for the first time on DVD. "Uprising Live!" is also available as a double CD+DVD box set.
Out 24 November 2014.
