Backed by the government and made up of influential figures from Jamaican civil society, both on the island and abroad, the Jamaican Diaspora project, launched in 2004, aims to promote the image of Jamaica, notably in countries that are home to Jamaican expatriates.
Following Dudus's extradition and the disastrous fallout for the country's image, the collective launched a vast campaign this summer, backed by a slogan of a song: I am Jamaica.
Singer Hopeton Lindo brought together several artists, including Shaggy, Freddie McGregor, Marcia Griffiths, Courtney John, Anthony Cruz and Fiona, to record this anthem free of charge. It will be used to fund charitable projects. |
