Fans of cinema and reggae have long awaited a successor to classics such as The harder they come and Rockers. Made in Jamaica, a film by Jerome Laperrousaz, already the author of Prisoners in the streets: Thirld World, selected at Cannes in 1980, looks ready to take up the challenge.
This documentary, shot entirely in Jamaica, will be devoted to great names of reggae and dancehall and should be released at the end of summer 2006. The announced cast is more than prestigious: Toots Hibbert, Gregory Isaacs, Bunny Wailers, Third World, Beres Hammond, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Lady Saw, Tanya Stephens and Capleton. Around 70 unreleased tracks are also said to have been recorded for the film.
