It is easy to picture little Ziggy in front of his mirror, imitating the mannerisms of his Rasta dad. At the opening of the record, on Make some music, you would think you were hearing his father. In all, six Bob covers are programmed on the double album that serves as the basis for this live release, complete with a DVD. It was needed for a record that won the reggae Grammy Award in 2006. Backed by an ultra-efficient band (Carl "Santa" Davis on drums, Sticky on percussion, the Japanese guitarist Takeshi Akimoto, of the Tokyo dub collective Dry & Heavy, and bassist Pablo Stennett), Ziggy mixes Wailers hits with tracks from "Love is my religion", undoubtedly the most accomplished album of his career.

One suspects that Ziggy likes covering his father's songs, but without commercial constraints, one may wonder whether there would be so many on the tracklisting. For while the eldest of the Marley dynasty imitates his father marvellously, he nonetheless has his own style. Ziggy has emancipated himself from strictly reggae, going to suckle at soca, soul, ragga and R'n'B. Likewise, he no longer speaks of the masses of Jah, and seems to have made love his religion, on the title single, which is nonetheless a nice hit, whatever anyone says. He will celebrate his 40th birthday this year; the days of the Melody Makers are long gone. Ziggy no longer puts pressure on himself, he has made a first name for himself.
