Rêve d'évolution (Live)

In the direct furrow of big brothers Sinsemilia, Dub Inc and Danakil, the young shoot has taken root in the French reggae landscape. First because nearly 400 gigs under their belt suggest a legitimacy in the scene that few could claim. Then because Broussaï's enthusiasm and stage fervour have been fiendishly contagious right from the start. Born in the back streets of Mâcon, the Broussaï adventure is above all a story of genuine camaraderie and decisive encounters. At the outset, a hard core of five incorruptibles decided to record a maxi in the studio and canvass the local bars. The year was 2003.

A good few indoor shows followed, more or less successful but always watched by an audience that spread the word. The Broussaï entity grew in size and in confidence, and was strengthened by the arrival of four more musicians, picked from everyone's repertoires. It was time for a metamorphosis. With two keyboards and two brass players added, the stage line-up as we know it today was in place, ready to catch the train of evolution. A road that would take them to the Francofolies de Montréal and even to the Olympia, where they warmed up the boards for Groundation in front of more than 2000 people. Now Broussaï has come of age and is moving forward with its face uncovered, nearly 10 years after the sowing.

Ten years on stage, set down in the form of a DVD recorded in Gap last April, which perfectly illustrates the gradual progress of a crew in full growth. A fine package that gathers, besides the live show, an acoustic clip and a very, very thorough joint interview with the band members. Here and there you catch tasty anecdotes (the meeting with the Mystic Revelation Of Rastafari), fragments of life and testimonies in the image of Broussaï: simple, sincere and without artifice.
