Naâman is the example of a dream come true. A comet's trajectory since the release of his mixtape last year, which has taken him on a ceaseless tour and all the way to Jamaica. It was there that he recorded his first album, within the walls where Bob Marley himself shaped the Wailers' first two albums, with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. With his broad smile perpetually spread across his face, Naâman symbolises this waking dream better than anyone.

A dream he went off to pursue in Jamaica, recording his first album "Deep Rockers Back A Yard" at Harry J studio (read our Focus), on which he notably revisits six tracks from "Deep Rockers". Played by musicians in this way, the music concocted by Fatbabs loses none of its punch but gains in texture. This "remix", if one can call it that, is well put together, with horns, backing vocals and meticulous arrangements, without transforming the original tracks. The hit Skanking Shoes thus gets a second wind, and Smoke Tricks becomes more reggae, but it is above all Freedom and Rockers that stand out for a redoubled groove and efficiency. Four new tracks complete the (short) tracklist, starting with House of love, the album's first single, the good combination with Cutty Ranks, Rebel for life, and the acoustic One day, which closes the album as an echo of "Deep Rockers".

With no pose or forced attitude, Naâman quickly found his audience. His success may also lie in the mirror he holds up to his admirers, reflecting back their own image, their own dreams. Of course, English speakers will always find something to say about the accent of the frenchies, and Naâman's is no different from the others. After all, the main thing is the vibe, his audience, who keep asking for more of his energy and good humour, might reply. And when it comes to dynamism and sincerity, Naâman has nothing to envy anyone.

Big up and carry on skanking man
    xx

Big up !

YES !!!
