A new Bob Marley documentary project

There is no counting the announced documentaries and biopics about Bob Marley, many of them aborted or gathering dust in a drawer. But this time it is Tuff Gong Pictures that has announced the news: a documentary on the life and work of Bob Marley is on track. So we can expect this new project to materialise.

A new Bob Marley documentary project

Titled "Marley", it will be entrusted to Kevin Macdonald, director of the films "One Day in September" and "The Last King of Scotland". A rather good omen, then, given the filmography of the man and his sharp documentaries. Above all, for the first time the Marley family has opened its private archives. Kevin Macdonald is delighted with the project: "I have always been intrigued by the story of Bob Marley," Macdonald explains, "and the way this film is being developed, delving into the archives and interviewing the key figures in his life, has exceeded my expectations."

Presented as "the ultimate authorised documentary on the life, legacy and international impact of a legend", the film will be co-produced by Chris Blackwell, Steve Bing and Ziggy Marley. The latter said: "We chose Kevin because he is a renowned documentarian, but what matters more to my family is his obvious passion and interest in my father's life as a person and a musician".
