Julian Marley Well I hope at the end of the summer, I hope so!
The name of the album is "Systems"
Julian Marley No, Systems is the name of a song that's on the album, we're still looking for a name for the album.
So you don't have the name of the album.
Julian Marley No not yet.
Which label is putting it out?
Julian Marley It's Tuff Gong.
Who's producing the album?
Julian Marley the producer is Stephen Marley, I'm producing as well, and so is my brother Damian.
So you're producing too??
Julian Marley Yes, but Steve is the head of it all. He's kind of the captain of the team.
Are there any guests on the album?
Julian Marley No not yet.
Are you planning to include a few guests?
Julian Marley Maybe Junior Gong. I don't know, we have a lot of musician friends who could be on it, but not right now.
Maybe with Busta Ryhmes, who you did a combination with (Rastaman Chant) in 1999 at the Marley Tribute? How did that go?
Julian Marley Yes, it was a good moment, but we already knew him before that and it was natural to end up on stage together one day to sing a song he knows too, since he was born in Jamaica.
Will it be a roots album, or a bit like Damian's, which is more Hip-Hop oriented?
Julian Marley Well it'll bring together a bit of both worlds, Reggae, Hip Hop, but also more Jazz, Blues tones.
What kind of Blues do you like?
Julian Marley well the old styles, the old singers like Sam CooK.
Do you like Fats Domino?
Julian Marley Julian Marley; Yes I like him too, Nat King Cole as well.
Can you tell us more specifically about the songs on the album?
Julian Marley There are a lot of songs on the album, every song has to do with the spiritual side. The first album was more about things that happen in everyday life. But this one is about judgment and the spirit.
There's a song called "System" which talks about the system that's there to rule and to divide and to dumb you down.
There's also the song "Fathers Place", which talks about paradise, about Zion, so come with me to our father's land, where we can live in unity. So deep songs.
