On Friday 10 December the 3rd World Festival of Black Arts kicked off in Dakar, Senegal, as part of the fiftieth anniversary of the independence of French-speaking Africa, organised by the African Union. Until 31 December there will be a succession of free events, conferences and concerts, the festival aiming to be "the symbol of the fertility of dialogue between peoples and cultures".

In this very busy programme, Tiwony will represent Guadeloupe and will perform on 17 December with MyBand, Straïka, and his father Vicky Edimo.
Also worth noting, on 16 December there will be a conference on dub poetry, and concerts by Capleton, Ijahman and Ziggi Recado & the Renaissance Band. The next day, a conference on Bob Marley followed by a jazz night in tribute to Stanley Clarke, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Bob Marley with, among others, Monty Alexander. LKJ will perform on 19 December, and Anthony B and Luciano on 24 December.
