We really should have believed Snoop Dogg when he said last week that his next album would be a "rebirth". The West Coast rap star is apparently working on a reggae album: it was Diplo who let the cat out of the bag on Facebook.
The American DJ and producer (also one half of Major Lazer with Switch) has thus taken on the making of Snoop's new album, 18 tracks devoted solely to reggae rhythms. We will even hear Snoop Dogg sing!
"Snoop Dogg is an icon, he's bigger than music," said Diplo. "What we're doing is a reggae album. He sings, and does an incredible job. I didn't expect it, but he put his heart into every song."
The two are expected to be back in the studio in April. "I'm really proud of this record," Diplo continues. "It's the first one I'm executive producing, and Snoop Dogg's crew is incredible." Snoop Dogg is on the same note: "These are songs that will last 40 or 50 years."
