Registrations for the European Reggae Contest 2013, a talent competition organised by the Rototom Sunsplash festival, are now open.
Candidates have until 14 January 2013 to register, which is free of charge. Ranked according to their origins in six regions (Iberian peninsula, Italian-, French- and German-speaking regions, Northern Europe, Eastern Europe), the selected winners will then be put to an online vote by a jury and internet users from 15 January to 15 February.
18 groups (3 per region) will then be selected for the "live on stage" semi-finals, scheduled for March and April. Finally, 6 groups will compete in the European final in mid-May (May 2013 (date and venue to be confirmed).
The European winner earns the right to take part in a concert tour, and in particular the big festivals - Rototom of course, but also Summerjam, Reggae Sun Ska…
Last year, the band Sundyata represented France at the grand final, held in Udine (Italy) and won by the Serbian band Irie Fm (News of 04/06/2012).
