Will Bob Marley become a national hero in Jamaica? With the commemorations of the 60th anniversary of his birth approaching, this is what the advisory committee led by Dr Leachim Semaj will be working towards, the Jamaica Observer reveals in its 10 December edition. The committee will also work to make his birthday (6 February) a national holiday.
This title would join the long list of honours already awarded to Bob Marley: the Order of Merit (Jamaica's third highest honour), the Peace Medal awarded by the United Nations, the title of Artist of the Century awarded by Billboard magazine, and a star on the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame. Not forgetting the title of album of the century awarded to "Exodus" by Time Magazine, and the song One Love chosen as Anthem of the Millennium by the BBC.
