"Ethiopia is his final spiritual home." Rita Marley told the press yesterday, while in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). With the 60th anniversary of Bob's birth about to be celebrated, she said the time was right to consider transferring her husband's body. She said that the Ethiopian Church and the official governments supported the project. Bob's whole life is dedicated to Ethiopia, not to Jamaica. she said.

The plan is thus to exhume Bob Marley and then bury him in Shashamane, a region part of which was given to the Rastas by Haile Selassie. Roger Steffens, a reggae and Bob Marley historian, commented briefly on the subject, saying it was "outrageous for the development of Jamaica (…). Bob never expressed a wish to be buried in Ethiopia. (…) The country that created the Rastafarian faith is Jamaica, not Ethiopia."
