To start the year in good musical company, the quality label Quality Streetz releases a new mixtape for all lovers of originality and big sound. The two selectors Tarzan and Ewone have pulled the best from their record boxes, both for the quality of the tunes and for the deafening quantity of unreleased material.
The track-list speaks for itself: it features New York anthems like Sound boy burel (Smiff n Wessun) as well as Kingston ones like Push Love (Sizzla) or even Guadeloupe's Soud system (Admiral T). All in a well-thought-out mix, as good for making the eardrums dance as for shaking up the rest of you. It obviously recalls the Chief Rockers nights at the Batofar, where the two selectas clashed, blending their respective styles as they do here: dancehall for Tarzan and hip hop for Ewone, even if the format is not rigid.
Backed in their selection by numerous MCs such as Doopy, Efay, Lyricson, Mikee 3000, Chadness, and also Kalash, Al Peco and JL for some of the most furious lyrical clashes, "just doing their job as MCs" as the latter would put it. In all, 50 tunes feature on this street tape, with some very good surprises such as the track Plus haut by Manu (Baobab) / Brahim / Toma / Abib (Kaliman), or Eklipse's incredible performances in a most furious beat box.
There are also unreleased riddims on the two series produced by Tigre et Dragon and by Phunksycke, and some very good exclusive tracks such as Inna Jamaica by Kid Kurrupt and Loogaman, or Blahzay Blahzayi in combination with Sizzla on Girls, Girls, Girls.
This mixtape is therefore aimed at all dancehall and hip hop fans looking for an original concept and content. As a bonus, you will find the video for the track Dancehall Shot, which is on the first Quality Street maxi, with Dragon Davy, Chadness and Abib. The NoProdz team is in charge of the visual production, with Para One handling the music. |
ils font bien la paire ces 2 la !!! Vivement les prochaines danses !
