Radio France Internationale (RFI) inaugurated its new relay in Kingston, Jamaica, on Thursday 6 July. People in Kingston and the surrounding area can now listen to RFI on the FM band (96.5 FM). RFI will not, admittedly, be broadcasting reggae, but will offer programmes in French and English on cultural and news themes concerning Africa and the Caribbean in particular.
Let us welcome this initiative, which does a little more to open up and bring cultures closer together.
