Richie Stephens's altruism and generosity are well known. The man nicknamed the "Love specialist", known for hits such as Bus the place, The winner and Get wise, has been involved for years in the social life of his parish of Westmoreland.
A patron of several local institutions, Richie Stephens has donated the considerable sum of one million Jamaican dollars (about €12,000) to the elderly and to homeless shelters. He has also devoted himself to children's education for years by helping the Savannah La Mar Ground School, whose renovation he recently funded.
It is therefore only natural that he was presented with the Governor-General's Achievement Award for Westmoreland, a prize that honours a prominent figure from this parish in the west of the island.
