For its first edition, Curefest is already establishing itself among the most important events of the year. Organised to celebrate Jah Cure's release after eight years in prison, the festival (renamed the Longing For Concert, after Jah Cure's famous single recorded behind bars on the Drop Leaf Riddim) will offer a line-up of the kind only Jamaicans know. See for yourself:
Jah Cure, Shaggy, Richie Spice, Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Bushman, Capleton, Jah Mason, Cocoa Tea, John Holt, Perfect, Maxi Priest, Queen Ifrica, Mr Vegas, Chuck Fender, Chezidek, Daville, Fantan Mojah, I Wayne, Cecile, Alaine, Tarrus Riley, Conrad Crystal & Sugar Roy, Delly Ranks, Wayne Marshall, Lady Saw, Mavado, Lutan Fyah, Gyptian, Bling Dawg, D’Angel, Frisco Kid, Hit List, Lexxus, Munga, Nesbeth… It is an avalanche.
Originally scheduled for August, Curefest was finally pushed back to October (12 to 14) because of the Jamaican elections, themselves postponed owing to Hurricane Dean.
