After two solo albums, Lauryn Hill released her first best-of this summer, with J Period of 101 Records. At a time when anyone can put together a compilation in a few clicks on the Internet, 101 plays the originality card by building them in the manner of a mix-tape, with remixed and unreleased tracks.

DJ Drama, J Period's sidekick, had already tried the experiment with Nas, LL Cool J and ODB. The treatment, clever and surprising, is the same for Lauryn Hill, who is reunited for the occasion with her Fugees partners.
Lauryn Hill's penchant for reggae was well known, and it is therefore no surprise that Jamaica makes several appearances on the tracklist. She settles with equal ease onto the World A Music Riddim, the Intercom or the Bam Bam, we come across Buju Banton as a feature on Killing a Soundboy. while Fu-Gee-La is revisited by Sly & Robbie.
