While in Jamaica and just about everywhere else the trend is rather towards technoid dancehall and crunk hip-hop, the French label Soul Vybz seems keen to remind us that new roots still has some fine hours ahead of it.
Composed by Sherkhan and the Soul Vybz Crew, the Sunrise riddim had already featured performances by Capleton, Lukie D. and Bost in 2007. Re-released in a new mix, the series is now fleshed out with a host of other artists.
Already on sale at Patate Records and Dub Wise, the complete series should soon be available on the Soundquake, Irie Ites and African Beat sites too.
Note that a digital release is also planned very soon and that a CD compilation will appear next autumn.
