Tiken Jah Fakoly with the undocumented workers
on Tuesday, May 06th 2008 - 11 564 views
He had already come to Cachan, in August 2006, to support the poorly housed. Yesterday, Tiken Jah Fakoly visited workers on strike for their regularisation, L'Humanité reports in today's edition. The Ivorian griot's return to the Val-de-Marne took place at Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, where he joined the undocumented employees of Seni, a cleaning company, who have been occupying the site for a month on the initiative of the CGT and the association Droits Devant !!, demanding their regularisation.
"It's the thirst for justice that sends me here," he told the paper. "These people do jobs that young French people refuse, they pay contributions, they pay taxes. They are not thieves, they are within their rights. They must now be made legal". Regretting the divisions among the strikers, he urged them all to remain united behind the CGT.
