We now know a little more about the line-up of the Garance Reggae Festival, which will take place in Bagnols-sur-Cèze from 28 to 31 July (see news of 07/01/2010).

Topping the bill on the first night, Wednesday 28th, are two veterans and two historic heavyweights of the Jamaican sound system: King Stur Gav, the sound system founded by U-Roy in the 70s and regarded as the academy of deejays, and Jahlovemuzik, an atypical sound that emanated from the Rasta branch of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, formed in the same period.
Many artists have picked up the mic on one of these sounds, and the most famous of them will be in Bagnols for a masterclass in deejaying: U-Roy, the founding father, the "Principal" Charlie Chaplin, the "Colonel" Josey Wales and Brigadier Jerry. Completing the picture are Culture Dan, resident deejay on Jah Love, and the French resident Daniel Ray, who also learned his trade on the Rasta sound.
A bill that is rare in France, and what is more outdoors, in the purest Jamaican tradition, to relive the golden age of the dancehalls and of rub a dub.
The French dub sounds OBF and Blackboard Jungle (whose 16 kW rig has already proved its worth) will raise the temperature to give the Jamaican veterans the warmest of welcomes.
The site opens at 5pm. Concerts start at 6.30pm. Drinks and food on site.
Promotional price (4-day pass): 75€ instead of 89€, valid until 25 March. Camping area included in the 4-day pass.
