As the international community grows more pressing in the post-election crisis Ivory Coast has been going through since the presidential elections, Tiken Jah Fakoly and Alpha Blondy have clearly taken a stand.
At a press conference held on Wednesday, Tiken Jah Fakoly urged Laurent Gbagbo to step down, like the refrain of his song from "Coup de Gueule", released in 2004. "Ouattara won. Gbagbo must go. You mustn't cheat," he declared.
Alpha Blondy also spoke out. A Gbagbo supporter, he urges the outgoing president to acknowledge his defeat: "Mr Laurent Gbagbo was my candidate, but that doesn't stop me from recognising Mr Alassane Ouattara's victory".
"I can only repeat what I have always preached: the voice of the ballot box against the voice of weapons. The Ivorian ballot boxes have spoken. I urge Ivorians to respect the verdict of the ballot box".
