June 2010. After indigestible performances, the French football team is knocked out of the World Cup. All the players fly home to France. All except Florent Malouda, who flies to Haiti, ravaged earlier in the year by an earthquake (more than 220,000 dead).
Faced with the country in ruins, the idea then took root of producing a DVD of the One Love Festival, an event organised in French Guiana the previous year (news of 29/05/2009), which would support Wyclef Jean's Yéle Haiti foundation (Wyclef performed on the One Love Festival stage), of which he is an ambassador, but also actions in Guiana.
"I hope everyone will not only enjoy Wyclef's incredible music, but also take pleasure in knowing that by buying the DVD, they will really be helping those less fortunate than themselves in Haiti and Guiana. "
A DVD devoted, then, to the concert of the ex-Fugees member, a former candidate in Haiti's presidential election. A second DVD, with stage performances by Fantan Mojah, Jah Cure, Alaine, Luciano and Beres Hammond, awaiting clearances, should also see the light of day.
DVD available on Florent Malouda's website (€11.49)
Available on iTunes France from 12 January 2010.
