Heartical: a compilation for the 10th anniversary
on Tuesday, May 31st 2011 - 4 182 views
Founded in 2001 by the French sound system Heartical, the label of the same name is celebrating its tenth anniversary with its first compilation, "Heartical Story". The record gathers 20 tracks picked from the label's sixty or so releases (previously unreleased on CD) and draws on eight in-house riddims played by the band Basque Dub Foundation: Ministerio Del Dub Riddim, Slaving Riddim, Tonight Riddim, Far East Riddim, Know Myself Riddim, Real Rock Riddim, Promised Land Riddim and finally Fade Away Riddim.
You can (re)discover songs by Sugar Minott (Righteous Tradition), Alton Ellis (Peaceful Valley on the Ministerio del Dub riddim), Johnny Osbourne and Wayne Smith (Conscious Anthem), Michael Rose, David Hinds, Luciano…
Three instrumental versions close the compilation, with Sly Dunbar featuring on Melodica Knowledge, and a dubplate by Sugar Minott (Righteous Special) recorded for the Heartical sound.
Out in shops on 6 June 2011 (distributed by Musicast) and digitally on 3 June.
