Film screenings, meetings with artists, a photo exhibition: a veritable off festival will take place this year in Bagnols-sur-Cèze for the duration of the Garance Reggae Festival.
The programme includes three feature-length screenings: "Le Premier Rasta", by Hélène Lee, released in cinemas in April, which restores the memory of Leonard Howell, the founder of the Rasta movement (the screening will be followed by a meeting with the director); "The Harder they come", the Jamaican cult film directed in 1972 by Perry Henzell, in the presence of Jimmy Cliff; and "Made in Jamaica", by Jérôme Laperrousaz, released in 2007 (read our review when the film came out).
There will also be meetings with Clinton Fearon (ex-Gladiators) and Norman Grant (Twinkle Brothers), exhibitions by the painter Kissewon and by Midi Libre photographer Michael Anisset. Finally, Wake Up Sound System will run the festival radio, broadcast in the streets of Bagnols-sur-Cèze.
