Jamaican singer and producer Little Roy is paying an unexpected tribute to the band Nirvana in an album due out on 5 September.

Titled "Battle for Seattle" and released on Ark Recordings, the label of Russel Warby, the grunge band's long-time agent, the project comprises 10 tracks, all of them Nirvana covers in reggae versions. They include Come as you are, About a girl, Lithium and On a plain.
The Jamaican veteran surrounded himself with Prince Fatty, Mafia and Junior Marvin in London to make the album. He had already whetted our appetite at the end of June with the release of a limited-edition 45 combining the tracks Sliver and Dive.
Another detail: the sleeve is the work of Charles Peterson, who drew heavily on his work for the artwork of Nirvana's first album, "Bleach".
