Buju Banton will have to wait until the end of the decade to regain his freedom: the prison authorities (United States Federal Bureau of Prisons) have confirmed that the deejay's release date is set for February 2019.
This date takes into account the time already served (while awaiting his first and then second trial) as well as possible time off for good behaviour. His sentence could therefore be extended otherwise.
According to the Bureau of Prisons website, Buju Banton is still in transit. He is expected to serve his sentence in a federal prison in Mississippi.
Buju Banton was found guilty in February 2011 and sentenced to 10 years in prison in June 2011 (news of 24/06/2011).
