Denroy Morgan, the father of the members of Morgan Heritage and author of the 1981 hit I'll Do Anything for You, was arrested by New York police in possession of 25 pounds (11 kg) of marijuana.

The police officers, who were working on another case, reportedly spotted him leaving a building in the Bronx with merchandise under his arm, before stopping him at the wheel of his car for failing to stop at a stop sign and not wearing a seat belt.
On discovering the marijuana in the boot, police pursued their investigation in the building. The result: another man, Wayne Swavy, carrying 16 pounds (7 kg), was arrested, and no fewer than 310 pounds (140 kg) of marijuana were found in the building. According to police, the value of the seizure is somewhere between $140,000 and $350,000.
Denroy Morgan and Wayne Swaby have both been charged with marijuana possession. Denroy Morgan remains in custody, bail having been set at $8,000.
