A partner of King Kalabash in Big Famili, Baron Black is releasing his first solo album. A first opus born in pain, as Baron Black confesses that it was the tragedy of losing his mother that pushed him to record a first solo track, Man Mwé. That track was the starting point and launched the making of the album, recorded in his Black House studio on the outskirts of Paris.

"It opened another musical door for me," says Baron Black in the video teaser below. Indeed, it offers a glimpse of the artistic turn Baron Black has taken as he goes solo. Flutes, brass, drums: an acoustic album that is a return to the roots.
"My message has never changed," Baron Black continues. "These are values I have always defended when I held a mic. The form has changed, from active it has become a little more passive." Baron Black has surrounded himself with many guests: first of all his lifelong sidekick King Kalabash, but also guitarist Kolo Barts, jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove, Valérie Louri, Dédé Saint-Prix, Neg Lyrical, Kali, Natwal…
Available digitally on 19 September and in the shops on 17 October.
