Jah Cure will ultimately not compete in the Best Reggae Act category at the 16th MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin Awards), to be held in Glasgow on 5 October 2011.
The MOBO Awards, whom one had imagined to be more vigilant, have just realised that the singer was sentenced in 1999 to fifteen years in prison for possession of a firearm and rape. Released in July 2007, he spent eight years behind bars.
The nominees for the trophy are therefore down to four: Alborosie, Damian Marley & Nas, Khago, Mavado.
The public is invited to vote (after registering) on the official website: www.mobo.com.
