After three releases in the Maffi series, the Solo Banton / Jahtari partnership is now back with an EP, "Music Addict". We have already written about the German label led by the producer Disrupt. Founded in 2004, Jahtari has developed a 100% digital sound, exploring the sonic world of 8-bit video games.
The six tracks that make up this EP do not deviate from this guiding principle, which also dictates overpowering basslines. Such as the crushing one on the famous Musical Addict, the umpteenth variation on Horace Ferguson's hit Sinsemilia Addict, and even more so the one on Kung Fu Master, a martial-arts and musical showdown at the summit.
Finally, let us mention One of the greatest, whose lyrics draw on the Arab revolutions of last spring. Disrupt rounds off this deadly EP with two dubs, Arcade Addict and Last Blade; its artwork, by Ellen of MyLordSound, is reminiscent of Scientist's sleeves...
"Music Addict" will be available on 12" on 7 October 2011.
