The tenth edition of the European Reggae Contest opens today. Organised by the Rototom Sunsplash festival, this talent competition opens entries in more than 20 European countries.

The principle remains the same: applicants register until 6 January. From 1 to 31 January 2012, the public and a professional jury vote for the band of their choice, with the winners announced at the end of February. They will face each other in a national final, the winner of which will represent France in the European final.
The winner of the European Reggae Contest wins a tour of more than 50 concerts across Europe, including the biggest festivals (Summerjam, Reggae Sun Ska, Rototom Sunsplash…).
Last year, the German band Dub A La Pub won the European competition. Dar-K represented France (read our interview), chosen from more than sixty entrants.
In France, the Reggae Sun Ska Festival is the partner and French relay of the event. The international contest is spreading its web: the second edition of the Latin Reggae Contest also opens today in Argentina, Uruguay and Chile.
