The German label Jahtari announces the release of two new EPs: the first, "Dancehall Hobby EP", is devoted to Mr Williamz; the second, "Tann Up Solid EP", brings together Kenny Knots, Speng Bond, and the Japanese Rub-A-Dub Market.
Two 12" records featuring riddims concocted by the two Danes of Maffi, Moog and Junior the Rat, with superbly illustrated sleeves by Ellen G.
"Dancehall Hobby", by Mr Williamz (heard notably with the Scots Mungo's HiFi), offers two new Maffi riddims, the Hobby riddim (whose bass line is played by Pupajim) and the more dancehall Kriminel riddim. The EP is completed by a third track, When the man come from, on the Turtle riddim already heard before.
"Tann Up Solid" has a bit of a déjà-vu feel. With good reason, as it uses old Maffi riddims. Kenny Knots (the fine ganja tune Herb From Grow) and Speng Bond, two newcomers to Jahtari, thus step onto the Juicy Punch Riddim, heard in 2009 with Soom T (Flying High, Mungo's HiFi). The Japanese Rub-a-dub Market (aka Part2Style), for their track Fever, take on Solo Banton's Talk To Me. Finally, the closing dub on the B-side is the Robotron riddim, heard on the compilation Jahtarian Dubbers vol 3 (Ranking Levy, Mad man style).
Available on 12" and digital from Jahtari's online shop.
