VP Records, via its 17 North Parade label, is releasing a beautiful collector's box set of seven 45s titled "Channel 1 : 7-Inch Spectacular".
Seven tracks recorded at the legendary Channel One studio run by brothers Ernest and Joseph Hoo Kim in Kingston, and pressed in limited quantities between 1975 and 1983.
Among these old school gems are the hits Jah Jah by Leroy Smart, Up Park Camp by John Holt, M16 by Sammy Dread and Black Rose by Barrington Levy.
Six of the seven tracks come with a B-side devoted to the version (by the Revolutionaries, Sly & Robbie...), while the Mighty Diamonds' Jah Will Work It Out - on the Drifter riddim - is completed by Ranking Trevor's DJ version (Masculine Gender).
