Reggae.be blows out its 10 candles

An anniversary that comes as the site has evolved into a trilingual one, now available in French, English and Dutch.

Reggae.be blows out its 10 candles

In a long article, Karel Michiels (aka Jah Shakespeare) looks back at the beginnings of the reggae press in Belgium, to which he contributed: the magazine "Riddim", which started in February 1986, and "Rockers", which ended in 2001 after 36 issues. Back then there were no CDs yet, and even fewer computers. It was before the Internet came along and changed the game.

Reggae.be was born in January 2002. The Rasta coat of arms that adorns its logo was given by "the singer of Mystic Revelation of Rastafari, in his shack in Rae Town", Karel recalls.
From an "improved forum", the site grew little by little. In 2010, reggae.be joined forces with antwerpmassive.be and the forums of Civalizee Foundation and Beljam Massive, forming the backbone of the site we know today.

Its story has yet to be written. In fact, reggae.be is looking for volunteers...
