After "High Plains Drifter", available since February, the English label Pressure Sounds has just released "The Sound Doctor : Lee Perry And The Sufferers – Black Ark Singles And Dub Plates 1972-1978", the second Lee "Scratch" Perry compilation put out by the UK label in 2012.
For several years now, Pressure Sounds has made a speciality of compiling the Upsetter's productions ("Voodooism", "The Return of Pipecock Jackxon", "Sound System Scratch"…).
"The Sound Doctor" brings together 24 rare recordings made in the heart of the 1970s in three Kingston studios, namely the Black Ark (Perry's own studio), Dynamic and Randy's.
This rich compilation features singers who are more (U-Roy, Dillinger, The Ethiopians…) or less (Brother Boy, Jah T…) well known, backed by renowned musicians (Sly&Robbie, Earl "Chinna" Smith, Augustus Pablo, Theophilius Beckford…). Of note is the unreleased track Army of Love, by Junior Byles.
