Eek-A-Mouse, real name Ripton J. Hylton, is about to face justice shortly.

According to police in the American town of Kill Devil Hills, the singer was arrested in Paraguay without a visa on 21 November, and is being extradited to North Carolina via Florida.
In August 2008, the Jamaican singer had been arrested and jailed on charges of kidnapping, rape and drug possession, after a 23-year-old girl accused him of holding her captive and abusing her in a motel in the town (news of 22/08/2008).
Released after paying $52,000 bail, Eek-A-Mouse, who maintained his innocence, then left the country. In April 2010, while he was in Amsterdam, he missed the hearing of his trial scheduled in Dare County, following the air travel disruption caused by the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjöll.
His lawyer had stated that the singer's absence was not intentional, but that had not stopped Judge Jerry Tillett from issuing an arrest warrant against him.
North Carolina's legal arsenal is indeed very repressive (the state applies the death penalty) and provides for up to 40 years' imprisonment for the rape charge alone.
