After a first EP in December 2010, King Pépe & His Calypso Combo are releasing their first album, "Tropical Invasion".

A band from Rennes, passionate about Caribbean rhythms (calypso, mento, cuban, gumbo, cumbia) and committed to bringing them back to life. An approach that recalls that of Jim Murple Memorial. In fact, "Tropical Invasion" was recorded on their home turf, at Studio Murple in Montreuil, with Romain Dallaine.
In the beginning, King Pépe (Fabrice Uriac) performed in an almost acoustic setting, before being gradually joined by the members who now make up the calypso combo, widening the project to take in other rhythms.
"Tropical Invasion" thus offers a delicious blend of Caribbean music across 12 original compositions, and will be released on 10 June 2013 on Wiseband (distributed by Musicast).
King Pépe & His Calypso Combo will play the Art Rock festival in Saint-Brieuc on Friday 17 May.
