Preview of the previously unreleased documentary ''Bob Marley : The Making of a Legend''

The Eden Théâtre, in La Ciotat (13), is organising the French preview screening of the previously unreleased documentary "Bob Marley, the making of a legend", directed by Esther Anderson and Gian Godoy.

An actress, photographer and director, Esther Anderson was also Bob Marley's girlfriend; she met him in New York in 1972. Their story began during a trip to the Trinidad carnival (which Lee Jaffe, who accompanied them, talks about in an interview).

Made from previously unseen archive footage, notably at 56 Hope Road, the film shows the Wailers when they were still on the verge of international breakthrough. We discover the future reggae legend in intimate moments, and the birth of the albums "Burnin" and "Catch a Fire".

With Black History Month having just begun, the screening of this film, still unreleased in France (it has been available since 2011, and has won numerous awards), is an event in itself, and one that will be held, what is more, in the oldest cinema in the world: the Eden Théâtre is indeed the venue where the Lumière brothers' film was first shown.

Two screenings will take place on 16 February 2014 (3pm and 7pm), with the exceptional presence of Esther Anderson and Gian Godoy.
