Downtown riddim

The Downtown riddim is the first series produced by Quebec's Riddim Wise. The Montreal collective started out 12 years ago running its own radio show. After releasing a first album in 2004 under the name Mellowmood with Canadian artists, they have produced about fifteen singles under the Riddim Wise banner.

A rather classic but well-made first new roots riddim. The Downtown riddim features local artists they have already worked with: the singer, musician and producer Dan Fiyah Beats, Marky Lyrical, Mikey Dangerous and King Shadrock.

But Riddim Wise also invited Lutan Fyah, as precious and consistent as ever on Bossman, Turbulence and I-Shenko, who warn against the Obeah Man, and Sizzla (Take Me), to be discovered with this non-exhaustive mix. The complete series notably features Perfect, Mikey General and Prince Koloni (see the tracklist below).

Available on iTunes from 29 November 2012.
