Honey Pot riddim – Silly Walks Discotheque

Discovered with Torch's track Good Reggae Music (watch the video), the Honey Pot riddim is now a full series.

Built by Germany's Silly Walks Discotheque, this good new roots riddim features a fine panel of young talents. We have already talked a lot about Jah9 and Chronixx, always consistent. RC (aka Righteous Child) and Kabaka Pyramid, here in a duo with Exco Levi, also deserve a mention.

But Silly Walks also relied on more experienced artists, such as Lutan Fyah, Daville and Ginjah.

Available in digital format from 22 February 2013, and soon on 7".

Tracklist:
01. Torch – Good reggae music
02. Kabaka Pyramid & Exco Levi - Strive
03. RC – Why should I
04. Jah9 - Brothers
05. Ginjah – Sweet killer
06. Lutan Fyah – Your love
07. Daville – One in a million
08. Chronixx – Smile Jamaica

In Jamaica, the lifeblood of the record industry is the riddim (from "rhythm"), an instrumental produced by a label. A label that does not settle for recording a single artist on that riddim, but as many as it can: this is what is called a "series". To make a name for itself, a label will try to get big names on its riddim. Amid the endless flow of releases, artists have every interest in voicing the most popular riddim of the moment. Every week in Jamaica, more than a hundred 7" singles are produced this way. Only later, if an artist manages to find a distributor and a record company, can they make an album, which usually gathers some of those singles.
